Last year, two Christian pastors from Melbourne, Daniel Scott and Danny Niallah, were found guilty under Victoria's religious hatred laws, for quoting the verses from the Koran that call for infidels to be killed. This section, from a Christian paper's report of the trial, is interesting:
Nalliah said, "Our question to the judge was, ‘Your Honor, how can I vilify a Muslim when I read from his own text’?”
Then, the barrister reminded the judge, ‘Your Honor, truth is not a defense in this law.’ And that was taken into consideration. Even if you speak the truth, and someone is offended, you are guilty and they are not."
Meanwhile, a mosque in Melbourne has been selling books instructing Muslims to "hate and take as enemies", Jews, Christians and secularists.
I wonder if they will be prosecuted too.
Read the whole sorry tale here.
