US Senators have renewed their attack on George Galloway, claiming that he received oil money from Iraq. They had better have some concrete evidence this time. The result of the first encounter was one-nil to Galloway. The Senators presented a weak case and he made mincemeat of them. Galloway was given a free platform for his propaganda and the material and publicity for a book.
The Senators need to understand that they are dealing with one of the most cunning and aggressive politicians from the most combative legislature in the free world. If they think that releasing a drip-feed of half-baked allegations is going to destroy Galloway's credibility, they are mistaken. It will just give him free publicity. The image of an innocent underdog, unjustly accused by a far away power is a guarantee of sympathy from the British public, even though most of them don't like Galloway or his politics.
If the Senators have enough evidence against Galloway, they should charge him. If they don't, they should keep quiet until they do. Calling him over to Washington to face a second round of unsubstantiated allegations will just give him another propaganda victory which, being the shrewd operator that he is, he will exploit to the full.

American politicians don't give a damn about Galloway, they are just playing to their own constituents, particularly the US voters who hate the UN. In the 1950's Senator McCarthy did very well for himself (for a while) by calling everyone Communists without any proof. Since we don't have the Soviet Union to kick around anymore, George Galloway and Kofi Annan will have to do.

Wrong on McCarthy and badly so. As we now know from Russian archives, the only point where Mccarthy was wrong was the number of Soviet spies: he underestimated their number by 50%. NB Hiss was guilty, Klaus Fuchs, the Rosenbergs and many others - all guilty of treason.

Can't stand Galloway personally but you have to give it to him he is light years ahead of the goons ( cos that's what they are)who are trying to persecute him in the oratory, personality and having his ducks in a row department.
How many times will he have to kick their butts before they admit defeat?
