Protest against the Dictators' Olympics on 6th April
A number of protests are being planned for Sunday 6 April when the Olympic Torch is due to pass through London.
Free Tibet is organising a demonstration in Argyle Square at 2.15 pm, although I'm not sure why as that doesn't appear to be on the route of the torch. Falun Gong and Dream for Darfur are also reported to be planning protests.
The flame will follow a long and winding route from Wembley Stadium to Greenwich, offering plenty of opportunities for protests along the way. The torch is fuelled by propane and is designed to withstand 65kph winds and 50mm of rain per hour. Extinguishing it would probably prove to be quite difficult, though it would be a symbolic coup if someone were to manage it. What was left of the Olympic Ideal was snuffed out when the games were awarded to China. Dousing the torch would be a fitting protest and a serious embarrassment for the regime in Beijing.

I would have thought a standard small car fire-extimguisher (CO2 or foam or powder) should do the trick!

Politically I'm probably very right of these protesters. But on this issue of bringing attention to this Chinese dictatorship and its consequences I completely support these protesters. This is a very righteous movement. Godspeed
