Now even the word 'civilised' is racist
Here's another of those 'Oh FFS!' stories.
The British Sociological Asociation has drawn up a list of words which have been banned by publishers and universities for fear of causing offence.
Apparently, 'immigrants', 'developing nations' and 'black' are racist terms and 'civilised' should be avoided by the culturally sensitive author because it has racist implications. 'Man in the street' is sexist as are 'seminal' and 'disseminate' because they are derived from the word 'semen' and imply a male-dominated view of the world.
No, it's not April Fools' Day.
Even the old commie professor Frank Furedi is outraged by this creeping censorship. According to the Telegraph,
Prof Furedi said that censorship is about the "policing of moral behaviour" by an army of campaign groups, teachers and media organisations who are on a "crusade" to ban certain words and promote their own politically correct alternatives.
He has more to say in this piece on his website.
The British Sociological Association's web-site is down, which is a pity, because I was going to order a copy of the banned list. And then use as many of the words as possible in my posts.

What do the left have to say about this? In these cases generally the left deny it, say it's a story made up by the right wing press, then they discover it is true and go on to defend it. I am thinking specifically of Pickled Politics here!

Surely this calls for a competition.
Create a consistent, logical, non-offensive blog post that uses all (or as many as possible) of these banned words, while simultaneously parodying and satirizing the politically correct left...

Yeah, I thought about trying to do that but it sounded like a lot of hard work.
